FAQ:
Q: Is the Epiphone G-400 good?
A: The Epiphone pickups aren’t as good but you could drop some Gibson pickups in a G-400 and still have a significantly cheaper guitar that sounds nearly identical. I have one with a nice chunky neck.
Q: Should I get the Gibson G-400 Pro?
A: Yep, get the G-400 Pro. It easily rivaled my $1200 2017 SG Standard with ’57 Classics. The Epiphone pickups aren’t as good but you could drop some Gibson pickups in a G-400 and still have a significantly cheaper guitar that sounds nearly identical.
Q: Is the Epiphone SG really that good?
A: The model that was a reproduction of the 1966 SG. It was good. But the problem was it wasn’t that good. I knew the Gibson SG would be better — better feel, better play, better tone. So I had the Epiphone SG for about a month or two and then bought myself the real deal Gibson SG. I lost about $400 all total.
