FAQ:
Q: Will a disc snowblower fit on an old craftsman snow blower?
A: The pricing for the disc is very reasonable since my snow blower is probably over 20 years old (bought it used.) Perfect Fit! Installed on my old Craftsman (MTD) snowblower. No need to sand off the molding ridge as suggested by another reviewer. Just avoid getting any grease on the rubber.
Q: How do you remove the bolts from a snow thrower disk?
A: The trick to get the bolts out of the disk is to leave it on the axle bar and put it in a vise to keep it still. When my Cub Cadet snow thrower started to lose forward motion when in any of the forward gears I did some online research and found out that the main cause of this was a worn out friction disk “O” ring.
Q: Do I need to sand a craftsman snowblower?
A: Installed on my old Craftsman (MTD) snowblower. No need to sand off the molding ridge as suggested by another reviewer. Just avoid getting any grease on the rubber. Also clean the driven plate (I used spray can brake cleaner) to remove all residue from the old rubber.
Q: What is this MTD OEM part?
A: This misleadingly advertised item is listed as MTD OEM part, but it is not. It is actually an OEM “equivalent” aftermarket replacement part by a company called MFG Supply. The packaging is plain (no MTD markings) with part number 41-5612 printed on the bag.
